Michelle Obama is undoubtedly a style icon. When it comes to clothing the first lady is all about classic and elegant ensembles (a trend she has also passed on to her two daughters) and Obama’s look for the 2013 presidential inauguration ball on Monday night was no exception! Naturally the blogesphere was in a tizzy about what Michelle should wear and the blogesphere was in a tizzy x 2 after the First Lady stepped out in a ravishing red Jason Wu gown (again).
Michelle’s dress was classic yet glamorous, sophisticated yet modern and overall the perfect choice for the festive affair! Jason Wu was a fitting choice for the First Lady, who, practically launched his career nearly four years ago after wearing one of his designs. The fact that Michelle is sporting one of Wu’s dresses yet again (just like F&B Inc predicted!) to a shows her loyalty to the designer.
The custom ruby colored chiffon gown looked gorgeous on Michelle who accessorised the look with a handmade diamond ring by Kimberly McDonald and Jimmy Choo soles. Jason Wu talked to WWD about his stunning gown and his excitement that Michelle chose to wear his label again: “Like last time, I had to go with my gut. I instinctively had to think of the woman in the dress. After four years in office, I thought the country was ready to see a confident First Lady in red. It just felt right.” Everything about the dress was definitely “right” in fact “right” might even be an understatement….the dress was positively perfect in every way.
