When I first heard about St. Augustine’s historic charm I was convinced I would have to find a way to visit! St. Augustine is famous for being the oldest city in the U.S., and well known for stunning Spanish colonial architecture and Atlantic Ocean beaches ? Filled with gorgeous wildlife, hip cafes, galleries and boutiques, 17th-century Spanish stone fortresses, historic hotels and the beautiful Flagler College this is one place pretty much impossible not to love ??
Similar to Old Key West, St. Augustine is filled with grand pastel coloured homes decorated with perfectly painted white verandas. The architecture of the city is sweet, classic, cute and girly in every way. I toured the town in the city’s adorable Trolly Bus (an old fashioned red train that drives around to all the must-see spots ??) The downtown of St. Augustine feels like Europe with cobble stone streets, coloured shops, flags and floral wreaths on every door. Basically everywhere you turn is another amazing place to take a photo ?
Every single store was bustling with eager tourists. Personally I was most excited to try some of the most buzzed about food in St. Augustine and had the pleasure of taste testing the treats. From the most rich, creamy, fluffy and delicious waffle I’ve ever had to the freshest popsicles I was pretty much in sweet tooth heaven. I’m probably going to be raving about the Life on Mars waffle and Stevesie milkshake I had at Cousteau’s for the rest of my life. And that was just on the first day! I can not wait to see more of the different st augustine coffee shops over the next few days!
???? My beloved waffle and milkshake ?????
I also can’t forget how amazing my Hyppo popsicle was! Have you ever had a spicy popsicle because….it is the best thing ever. My Strawberry Datil popsicle was made from fresh stawrberies, filtered water, evaporated cane juice, datil peppers (which only grow in St. Augustine) and sea salt. Yes, this is the most tangy and refreshing thin ever! ?
The last incredible taste of St. Augustine I had came at Crème de la Cocoa which is a new modern classic treat bar featuring signature chocolates and artful deserts. Not only was the interior aesthetic of this chic hot spot to die for absolutely every one of their deserts was amazing!
Fun Fact: The Bridge of Lions features marble lion statues carved from the same slab of marble as Michelangelo’s David (cool!) They are so grand and striking in real life!
Honestly, every part of St. Augustine is beautiful! This is a place that is so historic and yet so hip. No matter how long I could stay in this wonderful little paradise I know I would always be wishing I had more time to explore the beautiful streets and beaches. I definitely hope one day my life will lead me back to St. Augustine ?
