Sonia Rykiel’s interior design look is inspired by the feeling of a Parisian cafe. Thew New York free-standing boutique is covered in bookshelves lined with French literature, mirrors and columns. Vibrant red lacquer coats the entirety of the store giving shoppers a feeling of sumptuousness and power. Vintage leather couches reminiscent of the 1960s give the store a welcoming vibe while custom carpets, designed by Saraiva, consisting of pencils, eyes, lips cigarettes and books add the charm of a day spent strolling down the streets of Paris. The store is scented with a custom infusion of rosewater, mandarin, vetiver and jasmine – a perfume designed by the brand in the Saint-Germain flagship.
The new opening is just a taste of what is to come from the brand. “We are thrilled to be bringing Sonia Rykiel to Madison Avenue,” says Eric Langdon (CEO of Sonia Rykiel) who promises this is only the beginning of their global developments. Looking forward to seeing what comes next from this iconic French fashion house!
