There’s no denying that nude nail were a major trend this New York Fashion Week – essie closed out fall/winter 2016 runway shows with a satin-matte look as seen at Proenza Schouler. Staged at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the must-watch designers showcased warm, buttery tones and textures for their collection and a camel-hued neutral nail look. Julie Kandalec, celebrity manicurist for essie, chose a matte ‘all eyes on nudes’ to walk the runway.
OSCAR DE LA RENTA
Last evening and for the first time, essie joined the dream that is Oscar de la Renta for a beautiful show inspired by classical 18th century motifs, such as Toile de Jouy. Designer Peter Copping introduced a modern update by putting Oscar classic designs into a “technical pixilation process.” Alongside a color palette of French blue, oyster, bordeaux, dusty rose and black, the collection sparked the idea of a vintage look adapted to nails. Michelle Saunders, celebrity manicurist for essie, created a “vintage glow” manicure by applying ‘hi maintenance’ and striping ‘allure’ over the edge of the nail. Calling ‘matte about you’ her secret weapon, she finished the look for a clean, nude nail.
Global Lead Educator Rita Remark created a glitter sensation nail look to mimic shattered glass. This sparkling stunner was created by layering a nude base of ‘sand tropez’ with luxeffects glitters,‘hors d’oeuvres’ and ‘set in stones,’ and finalizing with ‘gel.setter.’
Will the light, easy, nude beauty trend carry through the rest of fashion week? Definitely loving this beautiful and simplistic trend. Can’t wait to see these beautiful looks next Fall!
