World MasterCard Fashion Week gas begun and the opening night was amazing! My first day of fashion week began at the Ritz Carlton Hotel where the first ever Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards
Nominees were announced (congratulations to everyone who was nominated!) Then it was off to the tents for the Pink Tartan and David Dixon runway shows. Luckily, I wasn’t just at fashion week to report on the fashions on the runways I was also there to cover all the behind the scenes action. Backstage was buzzing with stunning models preparing for the runway shows and photographers flashing photos at every corner!
What goes on behind the scenes at a runway show is just as important as the runway show itself! There is never a dull moment backstage and a mixture of stress, excitement and pure fashion fills the air.
I was backstage after the Pink Tartan show and before the David Dixon show and the buzz was absolutely contagious! Kim Newport Mimran of Pink Tartan looked stunning and smiled for the camera after her show while David Dixon was preparing for his Spring/Summer 2014 show to commence. The flurry backstage was like an adrenaline rush of high fashion and I was right in the center of the action…
I chatted with Joe Mimran of Joe Fresh about his up coming Spring/ Summer 2014 collection which debuts at World MasterCard Fashion Week this Wednesday! “I am so excited about this collection. So much work as gone into making this show…it has been 6 months. It is going to be amazing.” Joe was lively and friendly and we both agreed that Joe Fresh is one of the most amazing labels out of Canada. “Joe can be simple or super high fashion. It is all about versatility. It is important there is something for everyone.” Meeting Joe was surreal as he is definitely one of my favorite designers and I know his show on Wednesday will be fabulous. Check back on F&B Inc later this week for a Runway Review!
Canadian supermodel and fashionista Stacey Mckenzie is full of energy and bubbles to the brim! Stacey was so sweet and was so excited about fashion week. Stacey looked superb in a dramatic fur cape that totally set her apart from all the other guests at the show.
I first met the ever flamboyant Sam Sarapong at the Caravelle New York’s Launch Party last week (stay tuned for a launch party post coming soon!) and have since always been looking forward to bumping into him at fashion events. The actor, model and musician looked extremely high fashion in a gorgeous Louis Vuitton jacket. Sam puckered at the camera and left me with a line about his signature pout “You know why they call my lips pillows? Because the put the ladies to sleep!“
Day 1 of World MasterCard Fashion Week was sensational and I cannot wait for the rest of the week. Stay tuned on the blog for more coverage every day this week as well as runway reviews (and runway videos) from the hottest shows!
